Just popping on to drop a little encouragement for everyone! This poem showed up on my timeline and created space for connections between the central goal of this poem and all of the work and learning I’ve been doing about the power of our mindset.
When I first read the poem (top to bottom), it reminded me of so many parts of my own journey. The thoughts inside of our minds are extremely powerful and how we choose to write our story matters more than all of the strategies, products, people, etc we choose to help us along the way. I have vivid memories of times when the story I allowed to captivate my thoughts was dark & treacherous, focused on things outside of my control, or simply fixated on all the grey clouds that seemed to be clogging my sky & blocking out the sun.
I also have crystal clear memories of the moments when I live my thought life in a bottom-to-top frame of mind based on this poem. When the stories that would have held me back were flipped and became stories of empowerment, overcoming, and of gratitude and goodness. When my stories are in alignment with the life that I desire, when they communicate the peace that I want to embody, when they keep my mind focused on what is possible, then things are always better. This is no toxic-positivity where there’s never a rainy day kind of better, but the kind of better that leaves plenty of hope for the next moment and a positive anticipation of the goodness still in store.
I’ve used this strategy often, but there are always ways to improve how we see different parts of our lives, our bodies, and our circumstances. Recently, I’ve been working on rewriting some of the negative stories that have surfaced for me and once again I’ve noticed a 100% positive shift.
This work is worth doing! Over and over. It never stops being effective!
Today, I thought I’d invite you to rewrite some of your negative stories that aren’t doing anything but holding you back. Drop them in a journal, share them with a safe group of loved ones, or feel free to drop them in the comments. My hope is that we all take a moment to take captive any LIE (like the top-down version of this poem) and re-rewrite them with TRUTH (bottom-up kind of stories).
Our mindset matters and sometimes we need a reminder to not only call out the thoughts that are keeping us caged & unhappy, but to upend and trash those lies that take center stage. They don’t belong here. It’s time to make space for something new. It’s time to choose something better.
Much love to you all ❤
